STL TRUSTEES COMMEMORATES INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD WITH A VISIT TO THE LAGOS STATE JUVENILE CORRECTIONAL CENTER FOR GIRLS

In honour of the International Day of the Girl Child, STL Trustees Limited (STL) paid a visit to the Lagos State Juvenile Correctional Center for Girls in Idi Araba, Lagos. The visit was aimed at supporting and encouraging the young girls, who are currently undergoing rehabilitation and skill development.

The team was welcomed by Mrs. Olasunmbo Ojukotola, the Principal of the Centre, who lead  the STL  Team on a tour of the facility. She showcased the various vocational skills the girls are learning, such as sewing, hairdressing, bead-making, alongside their formal education. ‘’Every program at the Centre is  designed to equip the girls with practical skills that can help them reintegrate into the society and become self-reliant in the future’’ she said.

The Executive Director of STL Trustees Limited, Mr. Akin Oni, also addressed the girls, offering them words of advice and encouragement. He emphasized the importance of resilience and determination, urging the girls not to allow their current circumstances to define their future.

“Your dreams are valid, keep learning, and with determination, you can achieve them,” Mr. Oni said during his speech. He also highlighted the significance of education and skill acquisition as tools for personal and economic empowerment. Mr. Oni assured the girls that STL Trustees is committed to supporting causes that uplift young women and provide them with the opportunities they need to thrive.

The visit also reinforced one of STL Trustees goal of empowering the next generation of women. The company recognizes that investing in the career growth and development of girls is crucial for building a more equitable and better society.

STL Trustees remains committed to initiatives that drive positive social impact and the visit to the Lagos State Juvenile Correctional Center is part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to support underprivileged girls and promote the importance of education and skills development.
