I met a widower last week who seems to me well organised, not to be pitied but applauded.
Steve got married in 2005 at age 31 and became a widower at age 33.
Ill luck, I guess. His wife died at child birth- the baby girl Lizzy is now in Secondary School.
However, Steve left nothing to chance as he set up a Trust for the education of his child from the first marriage with direct debit from his salary account.
Steve is now remarried to Sola in 2010 and the knowledge of this fund keeps the bonding between Lizzy and Steve seeing that the father is interested in her wellbeing without affecting the relationship between Steve and the new wife.
As at 2019, the Trust fund is in excess of N20 million and still growing.
